About Us

Purpose:

The Calgary Highland Dancing Association (CHDA) is a not-for-profit organization established to promote Highland Dancing in Calgary and the surrounding areas.

The CHDA season runs from September through June.

The CHDA provides opportunities for Highland Dancers to dance and compete by proudly sponsoring four competitions during the season:

  • The November competition weekend is a fun start to the dancing season with a Winter Wonderland theme.
  • The January competition is the only CHDA competition closed to CHDA members only.
  • The March competition weekend includes the annual Chinook Open Championship.
  • The June classic includes a Premier Challenge.

What We Offer:

  • Gear sales sponsored twice per season. Non-members are also welcome to buy and sell at these sales.
  • Pipe practices are held one week before the competitions. These practices are only open to CHDA members.
  • Annual CHDA member pre-premier and premier workshops with national and internationally recognized teachers and adjudicators.
  • Every second year CHDA members can participate in a residential workshop. The workshop is offered at a subsidized price.
